Construction of a kindergarten — building materials, furnishings and playground for early childhood education.
The village of Babong is a remote, poor village in the Bafang region of Cameroon, approximately 300 km northwest of the capital Yaoundé. The high poverty in this village and the government's limited education budget are a major obstacle to the future of children in this region.
In this severely disadvantaged rural region, there are gender-specific differences in education and the infrastructure is insufficient to provide children, especially girls, with adequate access to basic education.
Furthermore, many village parents are unaware of the benefits of pre-school education for their children, as they themselves are illiterate.
This project aims to give more than 90 children access to pre-school education each year, to properly prepare them for school.
