Young farmers in West Cameroon learn the basics of organic animal husbandry — chickens, pigs, rabbits. Goal: protect the environment and increase household income.

Context and background.

In West Cameroon, many young farmers lack the expertise for sustainable and productive livestock farming. Conventional methods strain the environment and yield low returns. This project teaches biological alternatives.

Project goals.

  • Retraining young farmers in organic animal husbandry
  • Raising awareness of climate change and its impact on agricultural production

Activities.

Training in: organic chicken breeding (selection, feeding, prophylaxis, housing), pig and rabbit breeding, determining daily nutritional needs, vitamins and minerals. Special focus on hydroponic feed and natural feedstuffs.
