Context and background.

The village community of Fotouni belongs to the municipality of Bandja in western Cameroon. Fotouni faces many difficulties due to a lack of basic social facilities.

Education appears most critical given the number of children who cannot attend or complete school each year:

• The infrastructure of the current village primary school is outdated — classrooms are damaged and dilapidated
• 2 grade levels are frequently combined in 1 classroom — making teaching extremely difficult
• The school has no suitable latrines
• The school does not have enough teachers

In this village community, where the population lives in extreme poverty, building new school infrastructure at their own expense is impossible.

Project goal.

Ensuring access to quality primary education in the Fotouni village community, promoting primary school completion and raising parents' awareness of the benefits of education for their children.

Activities.

• Construction of a primary school with 4 classrooms
• Construction of an office with waiting room for school administration
• Furnishing all classrooms and offices
• Building school latrines, separated by gender
